Move-Day Reality in Cumberland
Cumberland is one of our shortest hauls — about ten miles south of the Franklin shop — and the friction on most jobs here isn't the drive, it's the destination block. Valley Falls and Lonsdale still carry the mill-village street grid: narrow lanes, tight curb cuts, and stretches where the 26-footer needs a spotter just to get past parked cars. Lonsdale's historic district adds a permit step we handle in advance, not the morning of the move.
Cumberland Hill and Diamond Hill jobs run differently. Homes get larger, driveways get longer, and the gravel approaches near Diamond Hill State Park mean we pre-walk the route to make sure the loaded truck won't bottom out or block a no-truck access road. Ashton and Berkeley sit in between — a mix of antique mill cottages and capes where stair carries are the main work.
If the move includes an I-295 leg into evening, we'd rather start the load at first light and roll out before the rush than fight the corridor at four-thirty. Eastside is owner-operated by Tyler Trefrey, runs one crew per job on our own truck, and the price we quote is the price you pay — no surprise add-ons at the back door.
Cumberland is the suburban-rural mix of the Blackstone Valley — Diamond Hill State Park on the eastern side, the Nine Men's Misery historic site at the Cumberland Monastery, mill villages tucked into Valley Falls and Lonsdale, and newer subdivisions filling the gaps. Route 114 and I-295 are the working spines. Ten miles south of Franklin, about eighteen minutes on a clean run.
Move-day in Cumberland
Diamond Hill State Park has no-truck zones inside the boundary that affect a few of the access-road addresses. Lonsdale's historic-district truck-permit applies on a stretch of Lonsdale Avenue; we file the paperwork on your behalf when needed. Valley Falls mill-village streets are narrow enough that a 26-footer wants careful staging — sometimes a smaller shuttle from the apron is the right call.
Most Cumberland homes are antique mill cottages, capes, newer subdivisions, or custom estates. Standard kit on every truck: ramp boards, banister covers, four-wheel dollies, mattress bags, stretch wrap. I-295 evening rush affects move-day finish times — we schedule wraps to beat the commute window when we can.
